Engineers and surveyors must typically pass two exams to become professionally licensed. NCEES develops and scores the FE and PE exams for engineering licensure as well as the FS and PS exams for surveying licensure.
The Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam is generally your first step in the process to becoming a licensed professional engineer (P.E.).
The Principles and Practice of Engineering (PE) exam tests for a minimum level of competency in a particular engineering discipline.
The Fundamentals of Surveying (FS) exam is generally your first step in the process to becoming a licensed professional surveyor (P.S.).
The PS exam tests your ability to practice surveying competently. It is for surveyors with at least four years of professional experience.
Have you ever considered giving back to your profession by volunteering your time and expertise to the exam development process? NCEES provides tools and opportunities for those of all ages to advance the engineering and surveying professions.
Why not study with NCEES? You’ll have the advantage of using exam preparation materials developed by the same people who create the exams. NCEES also offers many other resources to help you prepare for exam day.
